Has anyone checked out heating your pool by your
a/c. i found some links and it states that when your
a/c is on your pool water can be heated. i also found
that a guy by the name of nick stated that from a 6 hp
(heat pump ) could heat 10,000<br

Well, I presume you mean recovering heat from an
air conditioning unit. This would have to be on the
same principle as a heat exchanger, normally used with
a boiler / central heating system. I suppose it’s
theoretically possible, but I doubt if the amount of heat
extracted would be very large - unless you live in an
extremely hot area, with an indoor pool with lots of
glazing around / over the pool. You’d still need to keep
the air temperature above the water temperature, to
avoid chilling the water, condensation problems, and
personal comfort of swimmers around the pool.

Heat pumps can be quite effective, particularly
in very warm climates although the gain mentioned
sounds rather optimistic. A very large heat pump could
probably acheive this in hot weather, but bear in mind
that the input power would probably be several KW and
at daytime rates (though the output could be 15 - 20
KW). Heat pumps do need maintenance, have a minimum
operating temp (though this can be quite low if they have
auto defrost) and some can be fairly noisy.
